swings

Well, if anyone is still paying attention I've finally gotten around to making a contribution (thanks to the scanner/printer I got for Christmas). Maybe another medium will jumpstart some activity around here.

I took this photo about 1 1/2 years ago and developed it myself in the darkroom. I like it, but you don't have to, I won't cry...and if I do you don't have to feel bad because I'll lie about it and you'll never know...so let me know what you think! :)

well, i know nothing about photography, but i like this. it feels lonely. i like the one moving swing. there's a weird white blob on the grass though, maybe a puddle. it was distracting when i looked at the big picture but I didn't notice it in the little one . i love black and white photography.

Beautiful photo--I love the angles. I'd have to echo the comment on the blob though (a little work on Photoshop should take care of that, if you don't mind using digital means).

yeah, i'm pretty sure it's a frisbee lying on the ground (if you click on it you can see the blown up version). I have nothing against using photoshop, but I do most of my prints in the darkroom so that makes it a little more difficult to fix something like that...if only i'd noticed it before I took the picture I could've moved it!

I love this picture. I don't know the correct terms but I like the fact that it's got all 3 -- background, foreground and middleground??.

The angles are great. and black and white makes it look important even if it isn't...or is that pretentious? Kidding. Bygones.

good work.

kid, i love that about this photo too. I set the swing in motion before I set up to take the picture. I watched the swing go back and forth before taking the picture and didn't expect the swing to be almost in line with the pole. It's an element of the shot that is not immediately apparent. I think the thing I like most about this one is the dynamic lines, all the criss-crossing.

I also liked that someone pointed out that it was lonely. I'd never thought about it that way before, but I definitely feel that with this shot now that someone has put words to it! And what someone said about there being a background and a foreground, that's another element I hadn't paid attention to either. I actually have another shot of just the pond and dock with that tree, very picturesque.

Thanks Lexi, I consider that to be a very high compliment. Maybe when I finally finish setting up my darkroom I can send you an 8x10!
